I am an Australian born new media artist based in Melbourne, Australia and Kristiansand, Norway. I create works of printed, projected and digitally sculpted installation. For the past ten years my practice has been solely focused on the phenomenon of the dark ride; an element of theme park culture originating at the turn of last century. Forgotten dark rides such as ghost trains and haunted houses from this era offer huge inspiration. Where possible I have performed my work live, sometimes 'stand alone', sometimes in direct collaboration with a band.
I have exhibited widely in Australia and internationally, my work is featured in the recent book: ‘New Romantics – Darkness and Light in Australian Art’ alongside Bill Henson, Jane Burton and Tony Loyd. I am a permanent staff member of Deakin University and am currently fulfilling a position at Noroff University in Norway. I am completing a PHD entitled ‘The translation of cinema into space’ at Swinburne University, Melbourne.
