The workshop aims to teach the foundations related to the world of LED and related applications in the visual and artistic fields.
After a first introductory part and a theory of light, we will touch the world of LEDs, starting from the stripled up to professional led bars and parled. Configuration and setting of the various components: ArtNet, Network Card, Midi.
Finally, the participants will be divided into groups, each of which will have to deal with designing and creating a sculpture of light, composed of led bars and parlded. The final part of the workshop will be the various performances of the groups.

DAY 1 (Introduction and Theory)


Fundamentals on light
Presentation of the various components necessary to make the mac or pc interact with the light
DMX512 protocol description and IP based information
Setting Preferences Network Card of the mac and pc
ArtNet operation
Settings Preferences MadMapper DMX Output
Creation of various types of Fixture (LED bar n ° pixel, parled)
Creation of Stage in Madmapper for Fixture placement
Madmapper Effects Overview
Creation of ad-hoc effects with After Effect
Implementation with various types of Midi
MiniMad operation for fixed installations


DAY 2 (Theory and Practice)

Description of analog and digital StripLed types
Cutting and Welding of a StripLed from standard reel and creation of the ad hoc LED bar
Connection Transformer from 220 V to 5/12 V
SPI to DMX512 controller
Link ArtNet / mac or pc
StripLed Test with Fixture by MadMapper


DAY 3 (Project and Practice)

Creation of various 3D LED structures
ParLed positioning
Wiring Structures with Led and ParLed bars
ArtNet / Pc configuration


DAY 4 (Project and Performance)

Whole Project Fixture Creation
Creation of ad-hoc animations
Setting Midi
Student Performance


PARTICIPANTS

The workshop is for a maximum of 20 participants who will be divided into working groups.
For the performance, each work group will have 12 led bars with joints and 1/2 ParLed to create their own led sculpture.


DURATION OF THE COURSE

The course includes 3 hours a day for 4 days of the festival with a final performance



MATERIAL ON DISPOSAL for test:

Modular modular structures
Professional ParLed, LedBars
StripLed pixel to pixel coils
Power supplies necessary for the StripLed
SPI to DMX512 controller
DMX cables required
Electrical consumables (screwdrivers, wire strippers, clamps, insulating tape, etc.)
Welder with its tin wire
