Bruno Morphet DJ Set
Bruno Morphet began spinning on the fringes Cape Town's underground scene in the late 90s. Cutting his teeth at seminal clubs like the Magnet, Piano Lounge and More, Bruno built up a reputation for an uncompromising, purist approach to dance music. His specialist night Return to the Deep became well known for showcasing the deepest house cuts alongside the early beginnings of the minimalist wave in techno. As well as club gigs, Bruno was also a regular guest at festivals like Synergy and the legendary MCQP annual events and in 2000 he played a short series of gigs in New York City. His residencies have been as diverse as they are numerous, from Deluxe to the notorious Sliver early morning sessions.

In 2006 a collaboration with Ivan Turanjanin and Adam Klein led to the formation of the Killer Robot club night and dj collective. Bruno helped to curate a night that became renowned as much for the residents and their individual styles as the stellar catalogue of guests that graced its stage. Killer Robot's prescient eye for talent saw artists like Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Konrad Black, Butane & Alex Smoke all making their debuts in South Africa long before they became household names. 6 years later, Killer Robot still maintains a monthly residency at Fiction and performs at festivals around South Africa from Rocking the Daisies to Synergy.

In addition to his ongoing involvement in Killer Robot, Bruno djs in his solo capacity across South Africa and also a regular visitor to Germany, where he plays alongside Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves at their notorious Soul Shower night at Berlin's Club Der Visionaere, as well as the famous Distillery club in Leipzig. He has shared the decks with an armada of djing stars, from warming up for Luciano, to back to back sessions with likes of Lee Burridge and Shonky, whilst all the while, maintaining fierce independence and a resolute approach to quality. Unconfined by genre and encompassing everything from hypnotic ultra deep house to a full on techno assault, Bruno’s sets celebrate the craft of djing whilst keeping the pressure high on the dancefloor at all times.
