Introduction to Praxis LIVE
Praxis LIVE is an open-source hybrid visual environment for live creative coding. It can be used to easily create projections, interactive spaces, custom VJ tools, sonic performance instruments, media for theatre. It can be used as a live digital sketchbook, to test out ideas, or to experiment with code. Praxis LIVE combines intuitive real-time visual node editing with a range of built-in components for video, audio and data processing. Components can be forked on-the-fly, or new ones can be built from scratch, with an embedded compiler and editor for live-coding Java/Processing and GLSL. All visual components are effectively Processing sketches, with no limits on the number of individual components. Praxis LIVE also has a low-latency audio pipeline mixing unit generators with the ability to live-code per-sample DSP.

This workshop will introduce the basics of using Praxis LIVE, including how to create projects, live-patch / live-code with audio and video, and how to create audiovisual performance tools. While particularly suitable for people with some coding knowledge or prior experience of using Processing, the workshop will also be suitable for people with no previous coding experience.
