“Algebra” by Hatti Vatti was released on Nowe Nagrania label during Record Store Day on April 22nd 2013. The name of the project refers to the Arabic word ربجلا. (al-jabr) which means “algebra” - a branch of mathematics dealing with relationships between set elements as well as “ to restore” , “to force” or “to position”. Recorded sounds consist of field recordings gathered in various Islamic cultures (Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Palestine, Ethiopia, India) and the artist’s own electronic compositions mixed together in a sonic entity, a remix of the Eastern and Western culture so, as already mentioned above, a relationship between set elements. It is a specific combination of a 0-1 binary code mathematical music composed entirely on a computer and juxtaposed with Eastern sounds, as if forcefully put in a digital style creating a disturbing atmosphere.
