Continuum is an immersive audiovisual composition that explores the layered structure of space and time on a cosmic scale. Originally conceived for a fully immersive environment, the work surrounds the viewer with an evolving visual field in which conventional boundaries between space, duration, and movement gradually dissolve.
The composition reveals the different temporal scales underlying the visible phenomena of the universe. The formation and destruction of stars, the movement of galaxies, the slow emergence of nebulae, the explosive transformations of supernovae, and the gravitational effects of black holes become part of a complex temporal landscape. Processes unfolding over radically different durations coexist within the same audiovisual environment, challenging the human perception of time as a uniform and linear progression.
Rather than presenting cosmic events as isolated phenomena, Continuum connects them within a continuously transforming system. Different temporal layers overlap and interact, suggesting a universe in which time is inseparable from space, matter, movement, and gravitational forces. Events occurring across billions of years are compressed into a perceptual experience in which radically different scales can be encountered simultaneously.
Within the immersive environment, these cosmic processes become spatial as well as temporal. Images extend across the surrounding architecture, allowing transformations to develop around the viewer rather than within the limits of a single frame. The audience is therefore positioned inside an evolving audiovisual field where distance, scale, and duration become fluid perceptual dimensions.
Continuum invites the viewer to experience time beyond the scale of individual human existence. Past, present, and future appear not as clearly separated states, but as interconnected dimensions within an immense process of formation, destruction, and renewal. The work transforms the vast timescales of the universe into a sensory experience, reflecting on the relativity of time and on humanity’s position within a continuously evolving spacetime continuum.
