SYNCHRONATOR is an audiovisual project by Bas van Koolwijk and Gert-Jan Prins. The artists are devoted to explore the possibilities created by modern equipment, both analogue and digital, in the field of generating
visuals which are not based on a proper video signal. Instead, they find
alternative solutions in the very technical structure of the hardware, thus generating visuals that expose and reflect the true nature of machines behind the commonly known TV picture.
The project is a continuation of medium specific experiments between
image and sound from the early years of video art, for which they have
developed their own electronic devices.
