AntiNode (http://anti-node.com/) is a multidisciplinary performance group — a synthesis of electronic dance music, visual and performing arts. It is an organic and unique collaboration between a DJ (www.facebook.com/swimtheshine), a VJ (http://harsanyireka.net) and talented dancers. Our current show is called REact.
To bring about a visually and sonically coherent entertainment piece, the performance intimately hinges on the real-time, dynamic communication from the DJ and the VJ. But the communication is not direct. As the DJ pours his mix through the speakers >>> the dancers move and perform in reflexive response to the beat and mood of the music >>> but aspects of the dancers' movements are detected, analysed, interpreted and >>> sent to the VJ who uses these parameters in the real-time performance of the visual aspect of the show. Each of the performers, like nodes in a network, are invaluable to achieve the final spectacle. By definition, AntiNode, is the position on a string with the most violent vibrations. This name perfectly describes our show where the magic happens in the space between us depending on how we interact, REact to and transmit information among us. The audience is treated to a layered performance in which they not only enjoy the individual aspects of the DJ's rumbling grooves, the dancers' enticing moves and the VJ's spectacular views, but realise that they are also part of a performance where they can interact with the final spectacle and be part of the show.
