About

Natalie Sandtorv is a vocalist born in ålesund, norway, and currently residing in copenhagen, denmark. she focuses on improvisation, and uses the voice in various settings and genres like avant-garde, jazz, free music, and indie.

In her solo project pieces of solitude she combines the voice with electronics and creates a electro acoustic expression in drone and abrupt pieces. “Pieces of Solitude” is about the many forms of loneliness in both a positive and negative sense, and is therefore particularly suitable as a solo album. The album is imbued by a dark and melancholy mood with occasional massive and intense segments. The voice, and everything that comes with it,
is the focus in an organic interaction with electronics.

For the occasion LPM 2016, she will collaborate with visual artist and producer Mads Faste Liang Nilsen, who will mirror Natalies improvisational interaction with electronics both technically, conceptually and aesthetically using live camera feeds, projections and light.
Both the audio and the visual elements will be largely improvised in the context of the project description.

This performance is custom-made for LPM 2016, thus there is no available documentation of this exact setup. Documentation from similiar performances is in the gallery section.
