EV9D9 is a framework for performance designed to test the patience of both performers and improve visual presentation. The performers share a single text buffer that simultaneously supports Tidal and OpenGL, enabling novices to dabble in non-familiar languages while the experts compensate for their mistakes. In a sense, EV9D9 forces the performers to juggle three elements during the performance: maintenance of existing code, development of new code, and reconstruction of code manipulated by the other performer. It is this final aspect that is of primary interest to the performers for its potential for new musical and visual threads, and the integration of these threads into the current state of a performance. Sharing code in a single text buffer has also allowed the performers to streamline their presentation model.
