About

Machines generating Digital Art have a history that is quiet unknown. These machines designed in the years between 1976 and 1981 are brought back to life and 'hit the future'. The impact of them is quite strong. Generative design by using modern software like Processing has become an artform: softwareart, codeart, 'softwarekunst' ... name it as you like, common is: this art is based on algorithm.

All systems now are 3-dimensional. The machines of `the anchestors' (as I am one of them) need to find a way to get from 2D 'into 3D'.

The workshop shows some of the old machines where the concepts of generative design have been set up: SNE ART, Generative Computer Art, TI 99/4 Mondrian (by H.W. Franke). It will adress how historic works can be conserved or even brought back to life. There is the aspect how Digital Art now can be conserved for future generations as things are running much faster now as 30 years ago.

Links on literature will be provided and videos shown, depending on the time frame that is assigned.
