Robot e istituzioni culturali
When the "robot" is called to reprogram the cultural institutions: the case of the Santarcangelo Festival
What are the funding channels?
How are resources redistributed?
What is governance?
What are the strategic choices?
These are the questions that led the research on (and for) the Santarcangelo Festival conducted by MACAO. Collecting data, perceptions and emotions, playing with staff, elaborate numbers, evoking surreal scenarios in which to screen the Festival, the group has sought to identify the joys to understand the Festival and imagine where it is possible to start thinking about it.
Trying to renew the idea of cultural institution, MACAO began to consider artistic production as a process useful to rethink social change. From a research on working conditions in this area, Robot + Syndicate is born, a permanent lab that develops digital tools for artistic and cultural organization with the aim of supporting its autonomy.
Her body is hybrid and fluid. The collaboration with the Festival consists of a three-year project (2017-2020) where to set up an open lab, a nomadic stage for a longer journey that goes on with speech, relationships and live coding with the desire to draw new forms of governance and financial instruments which may influence the management of the Festival. Last July, in OpenLove Point, Robot + Syndicate's headquarters in Santarcangelo, a bit humane bodies and a little no met in a new magma of stories and insights, constructions and possible mistakes.
The intervention we propose will be an opportunity to present the research data provided by Robot + Syndicate for the Santarcangelo 2017 festival, and to discuss in a broader sense the possibilities of transformation offered by technology on artistic and cultural production.

What is needed

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
